The timber we use at Eden Made is of the highest standard and is sourced from sustainable plantations.
Our preferred timber selection is Western Red Cedar for a host of reasons outlined here. We can also use Accoya, American and European Oak, Rosewood and some Australian hardwoods for select projects.
Are you wanting your timber to be left to appear naturally or are you looking for it to be painted to reflect a certain style or colour scheme?
We can pre stain, oil or prime and prep and paint the first coat of your windows (or more if required) in our factory. Our service includes applying the finish to all sides of the product, behind hinges, weather-strips and inside of glazing pockets. By completing the staining and painting inside our factory you are not at the mercy of the weather for drying and you don’t have to spend as much time on scaffolding to complete on site. You merely have to install and touch-up or do final coat on site and you can relax knowing your joinery is well protected once it leaves our factory.
For this reason we strongly recommend clients take this option. It is a requirement of our warranty that any raw timber is sealed within 48 hours. We believe this optional service will provide you with a more durable product and speed installation time.
If your timber will be painted it’s important you know what colour you want to paint the timber before ordering it as this will determine the type of timber we use.
If you plan on painting your timber a dark colour then this may cause shrinkage due to surface heating. We would recommend a specific type of timber for this.
Typically for best, long term performance, if your door receives direct sunlight it should be painted in a light reflective colour, or an approved transparent finish. External doors painted in colours with a light reflectance value of less than 50 are not covered by our normal warranty.
All of Eden Made’s paint, stain and finish options have been selected on the basis of reducing solvent emissions into the atmosphere, safeguarding the environment and the health of the user while providing an excellent aesthetic-quality result. Mostly we use water-based options.
Once again you need to consider style and colour.
What style of handles do you want? If having a barn door, what type of track and rail do you want? What security keys do you want? Do you want common throughout or different for zones or perhaps one key for all windows and one key for all doors types.
We offer a range of sophisticated European hardware to ensure quality and durability. Some options can be viewed here and by clicking through to our suppliers.
